Tues Nov 5: Class discussion and reading: How did Canadians feel about going to war again so soon after WW2?; Read pages 286-288 on the outbreak of WW2 and complete Dunkirk Editorial Analysis assignment (see EXTRAS folder in classroom) 

Wed Nov 6: Read 289 and watch video on the Battle of Britain; read pages 290-91 and watch video on War in the Pacific and Dieppe; make notes on the following battles: Dunkirk, Battle of Britain, Hong Kong and Dieppe. For each battle identify the following: 

- When and where did the battle occur?

- Who was involved and what happened?

- What was the outcome of the battle and why was the battle historically significant? 

Thurs Nov 7: Finish making notes from last day; read page 292 on the Battle of Atlantic and make notes; read pages 294-295 on war technology

Fri Nov 22: Box Activity on the Canadian Homefront

Mon Nov 24: Create a concept map using pages 312-323 of the textbook; goal is to answer the Essential Question: How did WW2 impact life on the Canadian Homefront? Students should have the EQ in the middle of the page and three major sub-topics with information: Political, Social and Economic. Assignment can be completed individually or in pairs.

Tues Nov 25: Read pages 296-top of 299 on D-Day; watched video on D-Day; read pages 300-302 on D-Day and the Battle of Schedlt. Add these two battles to your notes (see instructions from Nov 6). Time to finish concept map from yesterday. 

Wed Nov 26: Read top of page 303 on war in the Pacific. Complete placemat activity (extra copies available in the classroom).

Thurs Nov 27-Mon Dec 2: Work on WW2 Unit Project:  Unit Project with Choices.docx (18,7 kB) - due Wed Dec 4

Tues Dec 3: Notes handout: Aftermath of World War Two.docx (15,3 kB). Paragraph assignment: Write a well developed paragraph on the following: How did WW2 contribute to the growth of Canada's national identity? Students need to complete a rough copy and have two seperate people complete a peer edit before writing their good copy.
